Mark Sutton Vane took a degree in Architecture then designed theatre lighting and laser shows. In 1989 he moved into architectural lighting design and established the London based lighting consultancy Sutton Vane Associates in 1995.

Sutton Vane Associates has designed the lighting for schemes all over the UK and around the world. Mark wrote the lighting master plan and then designed the lighting for the London 2012 Olympic Park. He also lit the Crown Jewels, York Minster, the National Museum of Oman and many other high profile projects. Mark regularly lectures about lighting. The practice places emphasis on sustainable lighting, telling the story of the project through light and meeting the needs of the client and users.
