Faber Design & Architecture

Faber is one of very few specialist F&B design agencies in the UK. Working for leading chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers and retailers, we provide architectural & interior design, market insight and branding, specifically for the F&B industry. Our expertise covers every element of the bar or restaurant experience, even the finer details such as menu layout, websites and staff uniform design.

The idea behind Faber was clear and simple; to create a leading interior design agency focused on formulating concepts for the food and beverage sector. We believe that design expertise is important - but design expertise specific to your business is crucial and can be the difference between its success and failure. With this in mind, we help people to realise the full potential of their bar or restaurant idea and to create a commercially viable, unique experience for their customer.

In 2013, Faber's Creative Director and founder, Tony Matters, took a space in the iconic Custard Factory in Birmingham, just himself and a junior designer, and set about trying to find some clients. A key early project, which helped lay the foundations of success, was designing the first eponymous restaurant for acclaimed chef, Adam Stokes. This restaurant, which went on to gain a Michelin star within six months and was rated the best fine-dining restaurant in the UK in 2014, would put Faber at the forefront of the emerging food scene in Birmingham.

What followed was a continual stream of new projects, both in Birmingham and further afield. Before long, the practice was growing and soon started to resemble the vision Tony had for Faber; to provide a multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted service, specifically to the food & beverage industry. This growth is testament to the success of the Faber vision and approach; balancing creativity with technical knowledge to provide highly focused expertise.

The future looks bright: Tony is ambitious and around him he's assembled a strong team of industry experts and creative wonder-kids. Working in partnership with Nottingham Trent University, he is helping to nurture a new generation of restaurant designers and is passionate about developing Faber as an industry-leader in this very specific area of interior design.
