Albilad Capital

Pace

Albilad Capital's new headquarters redefines the contemporary workplace for one of Saudi Arabia's leading Sharia-compliant investment banks. Occupying six floors within a newly completed tower in Riyadh's Laysen Valley District, the 4,800 square metre headquarters brings together more than 300 employees across executive leadership, wealth and asset management, brokerage, compliance, risk, finance, technology and operations within a cohesive workplace designed to support collaboration, performance and future growth.

The project brief called for a workplace that reflected Albilad Capital's core values of trust, innovation, social responsibility and community while remaining rooted in its cultural identity. The design response was developed around the concept of "Layers", interpreting these values through architecture rather than applied branding. The concept explores how identity can be built through multiple interconnected elements, from spatial planning and material selection to bespoke detailing and graphics.

A custom geometric pattern developed specifically for the project became the visual expression of this approach. Integrated throughout screening elements, joinery, feature walls and wayfinding, the pattern creates a consistent architectural language that connects the workplace experience. Drawing inspiration from the region's legacy of Islamic scholarship, craftsmanship and innovation, the design positions Albilad Capital's future-focused identity as a continuation of a long tradition of creativity and intellectual progress.

Workplace planning was carefully considered to balance openness with the confidentiality required of a financial institution. The layout supports a variety of working styles, creating a balance between focused work, collaboration and client interaction. The headquarters includes a welcoming reception and client branch, contemporary dewaniya, boardroom, executive suites, open-plan workspaces, meeting rooms and staff amenities. An orientation study informed the placement of key spaces, reserving the strongest views across Downtown Riyadh for executive and collaborative environments while maximising access to daylight throughout the workplace.

Materiality is intentionally restrained, creating a timeless and sophisticated environment through the use of natural stone, warm wood finishes, glazed partitions, integrated lighting and high-performance acoustic systems. Sustainability principles are embedded through daylight optimisation, biophilic interventions, passive design strategies and the selection of durable materials that support long-term operational performance.

Albilad Capital's headquarters demonstrates how workplace design can translate institutional values into a meaningful architectural experience while responding to contemporary expectations of flexibility, wellbeing and collaboration. The result is a workplace that balances cultural authenticity with modern performance, creating an environment that is distinctly rooted in its regional context while confidently positioned for the future.
