Amouage, The Tent at Harrods Salon de Parfums
Héroïne
Client: Amouage
The client brief called for a compact yet highly memorable boutique that would embody Amouage’s heritage, craftsmanship and future-facing identity while standing out amongst the world’s leading perfume houses. The result is a sculptural retail environment where visitors are invited into a cocoon-like space inspired by desert hospitality and sensory discovery.
One of the project’s defining features is the dramatic entrance formed from folded aluminium panels engineered to resemble flowing fabric curtains. Throughout the boutique, rigid materials are manipulated into soft, organic forms, eliminating visible corners and straight lines to create a seamless, enveloping interior. Curved walls, integrated red leather seating, concealed lighting and custom aluminium detailing combine with mahogany marquetry to balance warmth, intimacy and modernity.
At the centre of the space is a bespoke consultation table paired with a suspended sculptural ceiling composed of concentric aluminium rings. The table incorporates Radio Frequency ID (RFID) technology, allowing visitors to interact with resin objects representing fragrance notes, perfume families and intensity levels. When selected and placed on the table, matching fragrances illuminate across the display wall, creating a personalised and interactive perfume consultation experience.
The project demonstrates innovation through both material craftsmanship and technology integration. Aluminium was extensively shaped and detailed to achieve fluid, textile-like movement, while hidden construction methods maintain the illusion of a continuous, sculpted interior. The design prioritises longevity through durable materials, bespoke fabrication and timeless forms intended to endure beyond short-term retail trends.
The Tent creates an immersive luxury retail environment that merges Omani tradition with contemporary design and digital interaction, transforming perfume discovery into a sensory and emotional journey.
