JOYN

NC Design & Architecture Limited

Client: Maxim's Group

JOYN is a restaurant by NC Design + Architecture Limited (NCDA). It functions as a sophisticated dining venue where guests gather to enjoy food, wine and cultural conversation.

The design concept reinterprets the classical Chinese tradition of the “Three Perfections”—painting, poetry and calligraphy. JOYN is conceived as a contemporary gathering place for scholars, artists and diners, celebrating cultural refinement through a carefully sequenced spatial journey.

Guests arrive through the Vestibule, move into the Garden front-dining area, continue past the Portico banquette booths, experience the Fermentory long banquette seating, and may retreat into private Pavilion dining rooms. Each zone offers a distinct yet connected atmosphere that supports both social dining and more intimate gatherings.

Key design elements include a layered material palette of stone, timber, metal and soft textiles, combined with custom lighting and furniture that reference traditional forms while remaining contemporary. Banquette seating, intimate booths and private rooms create a variety of dining scales within a cohesive narrative.

The project transforms a restaurant interior into an immersive cultural experience, using spatial sequence and refined detailing to elevate everyday hospitality into a celebration of artistic heritage.
