Heritage-Infused Corporate Hub with Sculptural Staircase and Sky Gardens.

A 10,000 sq m Grade-A office hub that fuses cultural memory and contemporary craft, with sculptural circulation, urban gardens, club-style amenities and digital wayfinding to support collaboration and wellbeing.

Conceived as a 10,000 sq m-plus Grade-A workplace in Hong Kong, One Bedford Place reimagines the corporate tower as a civic-minded hub. The brief was to cultivate unity across hybrid teams, embed wellbeing, and entice tech-forward tenants, while honouring local character. The design orchestrates a legible sequence of shared amenities and outdoor rooms, encouraging everyday encounters and informal collaboration.

A monolithic lobby anchors the experience, dominated by a sculptural spiral stair in black-veined stone and a profiled ceiling of polished nickel silver and grey stone. Wood-slat walls and lift doors recalling industrial folding gates set an authentic tone. Cultural cues thread through the scheme: a cafe canopy evoking bamboo scaffolding, digitised wayfinding and custom iconography, and a gym lit by hand-woven basket fixtures. Sky gardens, a club with lounge and conference room, and a roof terrace extend work and social activity outdoors.

The result is a layered, club-like environment that balances heritage with futurism and elevates daily rituals. Judges praised its elegant detailing, contextual storytelling and rich indoor-outdoor mix, and highlighted the sculptural stair as a defining gesture. The judges’ consensus recognised a confident, distinctive corporate destination designed to catalyse collaboration, wellbeing and tenant appeal.

The judges said: “Elegant sophisticated design blending old and new with nods to local cultural heritage elements and great attention to detail. A good mix of indoor and outdoor spaces”
