Riyadh Air GACA Headquarters
SAY Studio
Client: Riyadh Air
The client brief called for a workplace that would embody Riyadh Air's brand values of innovation, connectivity, hospitality and sustainability, while remaining deeply rooted in Saudi culture and identity. The result is a future-focused corporate environment that balances technology with human experience, creating a flexible and inspiring workplace for employees.
The design is centred on the concept of a "Gateway to the Future", using architecture as a metaphor for travel and exploration. Curved forms reference the movement of flight, while portals inspired by aircraft windows symbolise Riyadh Air as Saudi Arabia's window to the world. The connecting skybridges reinforce both physical and symbolic connections between people, teams and global destinations.
Local heritage is carefully integrated throughout the project. Architectural forms draw inspiration from the Al-Turaif skyline, while contemporary interpretations of traditional Najdi patterns, Arabic calligraphy and regional craftsmanship create a workplace that feels distinctly Saudi while projecting an international outlook. Riyadh Air's visual identity, including its wing motif, window emblem and signature lavender and indigo palette, informs the architecture, materiality, lighting and furniture selections, creating a cohesive brand experience throughout the headquarters.
Designed as one of the world's first digital-native airline workplaces, technology is seamlessly embedded into the employee experience through immersive media displays, interactive collaboration hubs, digital wayfinding, LED feature walls and technology-enabled meeting spaces. These integrated systems support collaboration while reflecting the same intuitive, connected experience Riyadh Air seeks to deliver to its passengers.
The headquarters provides a diverse range of work settings, including open workspaces, focus areas, executive offices, collaboration hubs, forums, multipurpose spaces and hospitality-inspired social destinations. This variety promotes flexibility, knowledge sharing and employee wellbeing while supporting different styles of working.
Sustainability and wellness are fundamental to the design. Biophilic principles introduce planting, green walls and landscaped communal spaces throughout the workplace, strengthening the connection between people and nature. Acoustic treatments, quiet rooms, focus spaces and flexible environments enhance employee comfort and wellbeing while supporting productivity.
More than a corporate office, Riyadh Air Headquarters is an immersive expression of a new national carrier and Saudi Arabia's future aspirations. By combining cultural heritage, digital innovation, workplace excellence and sustainable design, the project establishes a connected, future-ready workplace that supports collaboration, innovation and global growth.
