Panoramic Sanshui Lotus World views reframed.

A finely crafted apartment reoriented to panoramic parkland views, with layered materiality and transformative joinery; judges praised integrated planning while noting limited sustainability detail and imagery that was too dark.

Set within a multi-unit development, Sanshui Zhonghe Garden House C reimagines apartment living around the protected panorama of Sanshui Lotus World. The brief sought seamless visual integration without sacrificing functionality or privacy. The team prioritised uninterrupted sightlines and family interaction, treating the view as the organising axis rather than a backdrop.

Walls that did not carry structure were removed to open a central hub linking study, kitchen, dining and living. Obstructive balcony sliders gave way to full-height glazing, effectively turning the interior into a calibrated frame for the landscape. A glazed kitchen partition maintains visual connection while containing tasks. In the master suite, a pivoting mirrored cabinet doubles as concealment and controlled aperture, enabling rituals to unfold with borrowed views. Walnut timber, soft greys and carefully modulated light create depth and serenity, complemented by bespoke joinery and authentic furniture.

The result is an apartment that elevates daily life by anchoring it to a compelling horizon and encouraging social connection. Judges praised the stylish, well-considered scheme and rich material palette; others found imagery too dark and sought clearer sustainability measures and stronger continuity into the office. As a template for developments, it shows how precise planning and crafted details can embed landscape as a constant companion to urban living.

The judges said: “super stylish scheme, very well considered. Compact and minimal but with lots of richness through the deep palette of materials... a perfect foil to the views they refer to.”
